Clarity
Have I made the change clear and compelling?
What looks like resistance often begins with uncertainty. Clarity helps people understand what is changing, why it matters and what it will mean for them.
The framework
Every transformation asks two things of an organisation at once: to move fast on strategy, and to bring people with it. The Connection Bridge™ is how the two connect — five conditions that turn organisational intent into genuine human experience, so change doesn’t just get announced, it gets carried.
The Connection Bridge™ is Karen Thorpe-Reid’s framework for understanding the human conditions that enable transformation to move from intention into lived experience.
Have I made the change clear and compelling?
What looks like resistance often begins with uncertainty. Clarity helps people understand what is changing, why it matters and what it will mean for them.
Have I built belief in our ability to succeed?
Even a well-explained change stalls if people doubt their own capability, or the organisation’s, to deliver it. Confidence is built through evidence, not reassurance alone.
Have I created the space and support people need to adapt?
Change competes with the day job. Capacity means making room — time, tools, support — for people to actually adapt, not just comply.
Have I helped people see where they fit and why it matters?
People commit to change when they can see their own role in it. Contribution connects the individual’s part to the collective outcome.
Have I reinforced what remains true and helped people belong as we move forward?
Not everything changes. Continuity holds onto what people can still trust, so change feels like progression, not rupture.
Read together, the five conditions bridge organisational intent and human experience — the space where most transformations actually succeed or fail. The framework is explored in full in Karen’s forthcoming book, People at the Heart of Change.
